Monclaire
- The Gite in the hamlet of Monclaire is situated in a peaceful, countryside location bordering the land of the ruined Chateau de Launey, between the villages of Sains and Roz Sur Couesnon. It is however conveniently close to the market town of Pontorson (5mins drive) and the medieval market town of Dol-de-Bretagne (10 mins drive).*
This beautiful granite built cottage has been tastefully renovated in 2005. The cottage is comfortable and very well equipped for modern day living, whilst retaining all its charm and atmosphere.
Downstairs
Downstairs there is a large and airy living/dining room offering plenty of space and seating for 5 people. There is a wood burning fire and electric radiators are fitted in all the rooms. There is also satellite tv and a video/dvd system with a large variety of videos and dvds for your enjoyment. There is also a stereo unit so you can listen to BBC radio or play your favorite CDs. A selection of games and books is also available. The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped with a full sized oven and hob, a microwave, full sized fridge/freezer and a washing machine.
The conservatory
To the front of the cottage is a spacious, light and airy conservatory equipped with a large dining area, ideal for eating your meals whilst overlooking the garden and lovely scenery and wildlife. The conservatory also has an informal sitting area in which to enjoy an aperro whilst watching the setting sun and the deer which often graze in the meadow beyond the garden.
The first floor
On the first floor there are two generously sized bedrooms, the first a twin and the second a double. Both rooms overlook the large garden area, the terrace and the meadow beyond. The rooms are well equipped and have varnished wooden floors. There is also a spacious shower-room, fitted with a multi-massage shower unit, WC and washbasin.
The second floor
On this floor is a further large mezzanine which offers plenty of space for an additional single bed, and is equally well equiped.
The terrace
Outside there is a large garden area which looks out over a pretty meadow beyond. The garden and meadow are ideal for flying kites or kicking a ball around. However, if you prefer to just relax there are also two terrace areas, a barbecue area and plenty of room for the garden furniture provided. There is also plenty of private, off-road parking.
Exploring Brittany
Despite being in a quiet location, Monclaire is ideally situated for exploring Brittany and Normandy and is convenient for most of the ferry ports. St Malo is just 25 mins away, Caen an hour away and Cherbourg/Le Havre only 2 hours away, even the tunnel is only 5 hours away. The area also has an airport at Dinard, 30 mins drive and another at Rennes only 45 mins drive.
Le Mont St Michel is only a 10 minute drive away, although a short stroll to the top of the lane will provide you with panoramic views of Le Mont and its Bay. The Chateau town of Combourg,the medieval towns of Dinan and Dol-de-Bretagne, the ancient walled town of St.Malo with its beaches and the pretty coastal town of Dinard are all within 30 minutes drive.

Gas for the hob and oven is included in the price, so is water and holiday taxes. Wood is available for the wood burning chimney at 10 pounds 12 per wheelbarrow full. Cots, highchairs, baby baths, potties , toilet reducers and child safety gates are available, free of charge, on request. Note: Exchange rate of £1 to 1.2 will be applied.
