Maison Cadran

A 200 year old, traditional , Breton house set in its own private and extensive grounds.The house is in a rural but not isolated location and is surrounded by rolling Breton countryside and is the perfect peaceful retreat.Only 10 minutes away from the medieval town of Dol-de-Bretagne , acess to Brittany’s major attractions is easy.The Gite is conveniently close to the town of Pontorson, which is the gateway town to the famous Mont St Michel.

Downstairs

The house is entered via a hallway which leads to a large sunny kitchen to the left. The kitchen is tastfully decorated in warm yellows and has modern units.The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, sink and dishwasher. All the usual modern elecrrical appliances are provided and all essential cooking items are to hand. A family eating area is to one end of the kitchen and has enough seating for 5/6 and the French doors let in the summer sun and open up onto the terrace and BBQ areas.

From the hallway is a second bathroom with sink, bidet, bath and separate shower attachment. Across from the bathroom is a downstairs bedroom with full lenght windows overlooking the courtyard and BBQ area.There is also a second and separate toilet room off the hallway.

To the right as you enter the hallway you will see large French doors which will guide you into ‘La Grande Salle’. This spacious, large living/dining area has an inglenook with a log burning fire. There is a confortable three piece suite, a television with UK tv , including ITV, BBC1, BBC2 and chanel 4. There is also a wide selection of films for you to enjoy on the dvd/video player provided. A large, French dresser houses a selection of traditional board games for your entertainment.

The dining area has a full length, solid wood dining table that extends out to provide adequate space for larger parties. The dining are has large French windows looking out over the vast garden area and the paddock beyond.A staircase leads up to the first floor , spacious landing area.

The First Floor

The landing area leads to the first two double bedrooms.The first is equipped with very traditional French furniture and includes a large, mirrored wardrobe, two bedside tables with lamps and a Louis XIV style bed.The windows overlook the gardens and the paddock area.The second bedroom is also decorated in a French style with a carved wooden bedside table and matching three door, mirrored wardrobe.The large windows overlook the sunny terrace area and the countryside beyond.

The landing area leads onwards to an ante-room, which has a large bookcase filled with a wide selection of books to cover all tastes.The two remaining rooms are off the ante-room.The third is a twin bedroom with large wardrobe space the widow overlooks the patio and outside eating area.The last of the bedrooms on this floor is the childrens bunkbed room and has two bunkbeds and a matching wardrobe and draw set. this room has its own TV with intergated video player and has full length windows overlooking the courtyard and BBQ area.The second bathroom is on this landing and is equipped with a shower, toilet, sink with underneath storage cupboard and window over the garden.

The Terrace

The terrace is private and attracts the sun all day long.Double French doors conveniently lead from the terrace to the kitchen and a separate BBQ area is just to the side of the terrace in a small courtyard.There is plenty of outdoor furniture provided and the lawned ares are found to the side and back of the house and are plenty big enough for two football teams to play on or perhaps just 5 aside!!

Exploring Brittany

The house at Cadran is in a quiet, rural location, ideally situated for exploring Brittany and Normandy and very convenient for the ferry ports.St Malo is only 25 mins away and Cherbourg/Le Havre, 2 hours drive and Caen only 1hr 30. Even the port of calais is only a five hour drive. The local airport of Dinard is 25Mins and Rennes is less than an hour.

Le Mont St Michel is only a 15/20 minute drive through lovely countryside. The Chateau town of Combourg is only a fifteen minute drive away and the beach towns of Dinard and Cancale and the medeival towns of Dol-de-Bretagne and Dinan are all less than half an hour away from Cadran.

Prices are for 1-4 people, 5-6 people and 6+ people and include bedlinen ( pillowcases, duvet covers ) Two mattress covers are available. Towels (hand and bath towel) are available for hire at £3.50/ 5 euros on request . The price includes 40 units of electric, after that we charge 0.15 euros per extra unit. Wood is available for the log fire at £10/15 euros per large basket .A cot, highchair, and safety gate are available free of charge, on request.
Note: An exchange rate of £1 to 1.5 euros will be applied.
